This is indeed a useful, practical thing. Browser Pong instead exists between a collection of windows. During play the negative space between windows is transformed into a playing field—the abstracted tennis court of Pong. The idea of thinking inside or outside some “box” is of course a dead and beaten horse. Browser Pong attempts to think with the boxes. Website visitor generates a series of windows, each with a randomly assigned color based upon parameters established for each piece. Creating an endless series of abstract digital paintings.

Visitors can experiment with the scripts already added or log in to compose their own scripts. All they have to do is browse to any url on the site to get a blank canvas and then, when ready, check a box to share it. The project is part of the Chrome Experiments initiative, which promote the new HTML5 standard and the Google Chrome webbrowser.

Net.tv, a project by Garrett Lynch, is a cross between a browser and a streaming media player designed to view the internet as it really is...

Net.tv, a project by Garrett Lynch, is a cross between a browser and a streaming media player designed to view the internet as it really is, code or more specifically markup, not a series of web pages designed under a print metaphor. It makes no attempt to interpret the code into an organised layout as do conventional browsers, instead it displays the code as an audio-visual stream of indeterminate length.
Why reduce the internet to an audio-visual stream? Simply to provoke thought around our use and consumption of different media, linear push media such as television and non-linear interactive pull media such as websites, which have been converging for sometime now. Net.tv’s purpose is to highlight the way we as users continually construct self made narratives when we use the internet through choices based on an interact / react model. It does this by removing our ability to chose and act on those choices.

Net.tv is available to download for Mac OSX 10.2+, Mac OS 8/9 and Windows 98 / Millennium Edition / NT 4.0 / 2000, or XP from the artists website:

Glitch Browser is an online browser that glitches and aberrates all the images on the web pages requested by users. It makes lovely discolorations, dislocations, pixellations & color bands infect the original image & invariably beautify content through this intentional corruption. The Glitch Browser is a collaborative artwork developed between Dimitre Lima, Tony Scott and Iman Moradi for New Langton Arts, San Francisco.
